Lady Baron LAX improves in loss
STEUBENVILLE - The Franciscan University women's lacrosse team fell 19-13 to St. Vincent College. Last year, the Bearcats topped the Barons, 24-4.
"That was the best I've seen our attack and the best I've seen our midfield transition all year," head coach Maura Conant said. "What this gives us is the ability to see our progression as we go. I'm so proud of these girls."
The team not only progressed from where it was last year but showed obvious improvements from the first half to the second half. After falling 10-5 in the first half, the Lady Baron's goalie, freshman Savannah Ruhe, got into a zone, saving 16 second half shots.

Steelers sign WR Heyward-Bey
PITTSBURGH - The Pittsburgh Steelers and free agent wide receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey have agreed to terms on a 1-year contract.
Heyward-Bey caught 29 passes for 307 yards and a touchdown in 11 games last season with Indianapolis. He spent the first four seasons of his career in Oakland, catching 140 passes for 2,071 yards and 11 touchdowns in 56 games with the Raiders before being released last spring.
The 27-year-old Heyward-Bey gives the Steelers the deep threat they lacked last season after Mike Wallace left via free agency for Miami. Pittsburgh and former New Orleans wideout Lance Moore agreed to a two-year deal last month.
