MINGO JUNCTION - The Brooke Bruins got a one-hit pitching gem from senior ace Heath Hildreth while he and his teammates blasted 10 hits and scored an 11-0 win host Indian Creek Tuesday at the John Muth Recreation Complex.
It was the second loss in as many nights for the Redskins while the Bruins, who are coming off a 4-1 trip at Disney World in Florida, won for the fifth time in six outings.
Hildreth flirted with a no-hitter yielding only a sharp single up the middle in the bottom of the sixth inning to Tanner Wise. Russell Schwertfeger came on in the seventh inning to close out the victory.

"Yes we did get a gem from Hildreth tonight," said Bruin mentor Ron Ujcich. "He was flirting with a no-no through five so we tried not to change things up. We didn't want to jinx anything."
Hildreth mowed down the Indian Creek hitters striking out 10 and walking two in his six innings of work.
"For the most part, Heath worked ahead of the hitters and our guys made the plays behind him," Ujcich continued. "He trusted his defense and he allowed them to field the ball and they did that real well.
"He kept the Indian Creek batters guessing and when you do that you can throw your pitches. When you stay ahead of the batters now they chase you and that becomes a very efficient pitching outing."
Indian Creek coach Mike Cottis, whose team lost the season opener the night before, 11-6 in eight innings with Martins Ferry, wasn't happy with his club's defensive play on a windy day.
"Heath Hildreth threw a great game," said Cottis, who kept his charges after the game to work on defense. "I'm not angry with our at-bats. He's a great pitcher. What upsets me is that of the first six hits they had, three of them should have been caught in the outfield. Our guys were running around in circles like a circus out there.
"The wind wasn't a factor. The wind has blown up here for 14 years. They're used to it.
"I thought Tanner Wise threw well for us and our relief pitchers did OK, too. It was just a matter of, for some reason, we're not catching fly balls. We have a lot of season left, we just have to keep working to get better."
Wise pitched the first five innings with the Brooke batters touching his slants with seven runs on six hits. He struck out two and walked two. Sophomore Jonathan Blackburn relinquished four runs in his 1 innings and Mitch Porter went the last of an inning.
The Bruins jumped on Wise in the top of the first inning for two runs that proved to be enough for Hildreth.
Leadoff batter, Russell Schwertfeger, started the game with a single, stole second and scored on Hildreth's double. Hildreth later scored when Nick Ossman's ground ball was misplayed in the infield.
Sophomore shortstop Fargo Camerlengo walked, stole second and raced home on Ethan Sole's RBI hit to right field in the second.
Hildreth scored again in the third inning on Ossman's sacrifice fly to center field, one of two for the senior left fielder. The Bruins scored three runs in the fifth inning when Chad Harper drove a double to left field. Harper scored on Ossman's second sacrifice fly.
Brooke tacked on four more runs in the top of the seventh inning when Ossman, Mario Lombardi and Aaron Walker laced three straight singles.
