Firefighters from several agencies responded to an early morning fire Thursday in Toronto. Firefighters got the call at 9:46 a.m. Thursday of a structure fire at 206 S. Third St., the residence of John Balzano and family, according to reports from the Toronto Fire Department. Firefighters arrived to find the second story of the residence on fire. The fire reportedly began in a bedroom and spread to other parts of the upstairs. The fire was contained to the upper floor, and no injuries to the family or firefighters were reported. Crews stayed on the scene until and 12:30 p.m. Responders included the Toronto, Empire, Stratton, Pottery Addition and Knoxville fire departments, along with a crew from the TEMS Joint Ambulance District. The American Red Cross Jefferson County Chapter was on hand to assist the family, according to reports. — Mark J. Miller
