FUS women's lacrosse loses
LATROBE, Pa. - The Franciscan University of Steubenville women's lacrosse team dropped a 12-9 decision to Lourdes College Sunday at St. Vincent College.
Lourdes scored 18 seconds into the game and two more in the next five minutes for a 3-0 lead.
"That's never how you want to start a game. That just right away puts you into a defeatist mentality," FUS head coach Maura Conant said. "Whenever someone scores right off the draw like that, you have to be able to rebound from that quickly and we were just sloppy."
Lourdes had an 8-3 lead at halftime.
Sophomore attack Tracy McClelland finished with three goals for the Barons. Junior midfielder Jess Bestgen and sophomore attack Cara Egan each finished with two goals. Freshman goalkeeper Savannah Ruhe totaled 15 saves.
FUS takes on Mount Union at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Bethany College.
