Ross Gallabrese, executive editor of the Herald-Star and The Weirton Daily Times, left, presented Rich Wilinski, principal of Catholic Central High School, with complimentary tickets for the April 3 appearance of Capt. Richard Phillips. The tickets, which will be given to students at the school, were made available thanks to the support of the Health Plan of the Upper Ohio Valley. The Health Plan has purchased tickets that will be distributed to 24 high schools throughout the region. Phillips will appear at 7:30 p.m. April 3 in the Steubenville High School auditorium as part of the Herald-Star, Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce Speaker Series. Phillips is the author of “A Captain’s Duty: Somali Pirates, Navy SEALs and Dangerous Days at Sea,” which was the inspiration for the award-winning movie “Captain Phillips” starring Tom Hanks. Sponsors for the series include the Herald-Star and The Weirton Daily Times, the Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce, Eastern Gateway Community College, Franciscan University of Steubenville, Trinity Health System, the Health Plan and WTRF-TV. Support is being provided by Bayberry House Bed and Breakfast, Piergallini Catering, Newbrough Photo, Thrifty Car Rental and Steubenville City Schools. Reserved seats cost $20 each and are available by contacting the Herald-Star at (740) 283-4711 or Chamber at (740) 282-6226. Copies of the book “A Captain’s Duty” can be purchased for $12 plus tax at the newspaper.
