STEUBENVILLE - The Steubenville Events Committee has announced the plans for the 2014 Hometown Celebration set for June 14.
"The Hometown Celebration will come at the end of the eight days of festivals in the city," explained Judy Bratten, director of Historic Fort Steuben and its visitors center. "From American history at the Fort's Frontier Days on June 7 and 8, to Greek culture at the Greek Food Festival at Holy Trinity Church from June 10 through June 13, and then the memories and music of the Dean Martin Festival at the Spot Bar on June 12, 13 and 14, there will be something for every taste."
Bratten said the Hometown Celebration will include a classic car show, Kurt James' Fun & Games for the kids, food wagons, exhibitors and vendors in Fort Steuben Park and a variety of entertainment at the Veterans Memorial Fountain from 11a.m. to 4 p.m.
"To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Beatles' first American tour, a performance by Beatlemania Magic will be held in the Berkman Amphitheater at 6 p.m.," added Bratten.
"The event is free thanks to our generous sponsors including WTOV-TV, the Herald-Star, Eastern Gateway Community College, the Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce and the Visitors Center. We will be 'passing the bucket' during the Beatles' concert with all donations going to the performing arts programs at our city high schools. This is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate our heritage and bring the community together," said Bratten.
