DOUGLAS, Ida Eleanor. On Feb.19, 2014, Heaven received another angel. Ida Eleanor Douglas, 85, of Weirton, passed away in the Valley Hospice Care Center North, Steubenville, OH.
Born June 2, 1928, in Weirton, WV, Ida was a daughter of the late Heino and Hulda Saxburg Haro.
She was also preceded in death by her brother, Alan Haro; and her sister, Lila Woodcock.
After graduating from Weir High School in 1946, Ida worked with Dr. Flood prior to her employment with the Tin Mill Department of Weirton Steel. For 22 years, Ida served as secretary/bookkeeper for the former Baird Auto Electric, Compton Auto Parts, Owens Auto Electric and the Ohio Valley Auto Center in Weirton. Ida finished her career as a part time employee of Mary H. Weir Library.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she formerly served as recording secretary, treasurer and enjoyed singing with the choir. She was also a former member of the Weirton Business and Professional Women.
Ida enjoyed music, playing the piano; reading, embroidery, and most recently word find puzzles and playing BINGO. But most of all, her true loves in life were her children.
She will always be remembered for her favorite sayings "Fine and Dandy" and "Right On." We are sure if you asked her now her reply would be "More than fine and Dandy." Forever always.
Ida is survived by her sons, William and Connie Douglas and Robert Douglas all of Weirton; daughter, Karen (Jim) Morrocco of Mingo Junction, OH; grandchildren, Jimmy and Georgie Douglas and niece Charlene Lutz of Melbourne, FL.
Visitation will be held 4-8 p.m. Thursday at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, WV, where funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday. Rev. Michael L. Heckathorn will officiate.
Interment will follow in Fort Steuben Burial Estates, Wintersville, OH.
