Barons tripped by Mounties
STEUBENVILLE - The Franciscan University men's basketball team quickly fell behind in the first half against Mount Aloysius College on Wednesday and couldn't make up the difference in the second half, losing 92-71.
"Our defense just wasn't quite strong enough this evening," head coach John Lamanna said. "Offensively we shot the ball OK but we didn't shoot it well enough to handle their onslaught offensively."
Moses Sullivan led the Barons with 22 points, while Derrick David got into a groove both scoring and assisting his teammates on some key plays and finished the game with 14 points, three rebounds and two assists.
"Derrick did a good job tonight," Lamanna said. "He came out and played hard and got the ball moving offensively."
With only two more games left in the season, both of which are at home, the Barons go up against the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford at 1 p.m. Saturday.
FUS women fall

Franciscan led the Mounties until late in the second half when it fell in to foul trouble.
"I felt the girls played hard, we got a lot of good looks on offense," head coach Suzy Delaney said. "In the first half we scored some threes and got to the line which kept us in the game."
Helen Raines added 14 points for Franciscan, which closes the season at home on at 3 p.m. Saturday.
