RIGGS, Bette, of Wheeling, passed away on Thursday, February 13, 2014, in her home surrounded by her loved ones.
Bette owned and operated a thriving Antique dealership called, Little Ranch Antiques, with her late husband, Albert Lee Riggs (Wellsburg) for more than 40 years, catering to dealers all over the United States.
A skilled seamstress and artist, Bette was specialist in antique dolls, including their appraisal and restoration. She started a doll hospital, where she restored and dressed over 1000 dolls in her lifetime and was a popular lecturer on their history.
Three daughters survive her, Cheryl Riggs Joseph (Robert Joseph, M.D.) of Wheeling, Diana Riggs Artman (Bernard C. Arman) of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Donna Riggs of Bradenton, FL; two grandsons, Mark Joseph, M.D. (Penny Dillion) of Asheville, NC, and Timothy Joseph (Cheryl Heslop) of Wheeling; and four great-grandsons, Alex Joseph and Evan Joseph of Asheville, NC, and Ian Joseph and Logan Joseph of Wheeling.
Friends will be received on Monday, February 17, 2014, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on Tuesday, February 18, 2014, from 10 a.m. until the time of funeral service at 11 a.m. the Altmeyer Funeral Home, Elm Grove Chapel, 154 Kruger Street, Wheeling with Rev. Debra Dague officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the Easter Seals, 1305 National Road, Wheeling, WV 26003 an organization that was dear to her heart, and where she devoted her time for many years.
