OSTROSKY, Ronald Wilbur "Ron," 62, of Wellsburg, WV passed away peacefully on Friday, January 31, 2014 at home with his family by his side.
He was born on July 24, 1951 in Wheeling, WV a son of the late Wilbur and Mary Belle (Michaux) Ostrosky.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his sister, Francis Helsel in 2013.
Ron graduated from the last class of Wellsburg High School in 1969 and attended West Liberty State College for two years.
He retired from Municipal Mutual Insurance where he worked as a claims adjuster and many years with other companies as an insurance agent.
Ron's dedication to the citizens of Brooke County mainly the Franklin Community goes without mention. He was a member of the Franklin Volunteer Fire Department among his many accomplishments he joined the department in 1971 and was their fire chief from 1984-1992, the treasurer from 2001-2013, he also served as president and vice-president for several years. He was a member of the Brooke County Fire Association.
Ron joined the Kiwanis Club of Wellsburg in 1996 to present, and chaired many of the projects associated with the club mainly the chicken barbecue and the luminaria at Christmas.
He is survived by his wife, Cindy (Finsley) Ostrosky at home; four children, Vernon "Carl" Huff and wife, Victoria and Larissa Ostrosky and companion Hunter Salkovick both at home, Julie (Bruce) Hubbard-Goff of Denton, TX and Jamie (Shawn) Herring-Smith of Leland, NC; one brother, Jerry Ostrosky of Follansbee, WV; one sister, Betty (Gary) Kruger of Wellsburg, WV; seven grandchildren, George Leek, Dakota Huff, Vernon Coby Huff, Anya and Ava Smith, Hailey and Christopher Goff.
Visitation will be held on Monday, February 3rd from 3-8 p.m. at the Mullenbach Funeral Home, 669 Main St., Follansbee, WV where the celebration of his life will take place on Tuesday, February 4th at 11 a.m. with Rev. Carl Tribett, officiating.
Interment will be held privately.
The Franklin Fire Department will be present and the Wellsburg Kiwanis Club will hold services on Monday evening.
