The Wheeling-based Community Foundation for the Ohio Valley 2014 scholarship applications are now available online at www.cfov.org/scholarships/ and can be submitted until March 7.
Award recipients will be notified in May.
Competitive scholarships are primarily awarded to graduating high school seniors and range from approximately $250 to $5,000. In 2013, the foundation awarded more than $170,000 to more than 100 students through its scholarship program.
Scholarships are made possible by donors who established funds at the foundation. These funds are invested to grow over time and provide a permanent source of funding.
"With the cost of college tuition rising, these scholarships help to ensure that Ohio Valley students have an equal opportunity to achieve their dreams and seek a college education," said Associate Director Vicki Smith. "With the help of our generous donors, we are pleased to offer hope for students."
The scholarship program consists of more than 50 different scholarship opportunities established by individuals, families, businesses or organizations to assist Ohio Valley students.
Students are encouraged to review scholarship opportunities and apply for those which they are eligible. Many awards are restricted to students graduating from certain high schools; others to students pursuing particular fields of study or attending specific institutions.
