The Herald-Star
A semi-truck knocked down several power lines at the top of Marland Heights Road in Weirton Monday at about 1 p.m. The incident left some nearby residents without electricity and blocked the road. Officials notified the electric company and were working to remove the truck. 'This happens now and again because GPS systems tell drivers to come up this road,' explained Lt. Greg Moodie of the Weirton police department. There are 'truck route' signs placed on Marland Heights to divert truck traffic and prevent situations like this, but drivers unfamiliar with the area sometimes do not see them.
