Fire reported at Slack Street residence
STEUBENVILLE - An early morning structure fire today at 646 Slack St. resulted in about $10,000 worth of damage to the residence, according to fire reports.
The city fire department responded to a Jefferson County 911 call about 5 a.m. today and arrived to find a small fire in the sunroom area that was quickly extinguished, according to reports. The sole occupant of the residence was identified as Roger Ritchea, no age available. Reports indicated a passerby spotted the fire and called the county 911. Minor smoke and water damage was reported. There were no reports of injuries to the occupant or firefighters, and the cause of the blaze is under investigation.
Caroling canceled at Historic Fort Steuben
STEUBENVILLE - A Christmas carol event scheduled for 7 p.m. Saturday at the Historic Fort Steuben has been canceled.
Judy Bratten, executive director of the fort, said concerns about the winter weather forecast for Saturday is the reason for the cancellation.

STEUBENVILLE - The fiscal year 2013 basic financial statements for the Jefferson County Educational Service Center are complete and available for inspection at the ESC's treasurer's office at 2023 Sunset Blvd.
Authorities search for disabled woman
SALINEVILLE - Law enforcement officials are searching for a 19-year-old mentally disabled Salineville woman after she disappeared with an unidentified white male on Tuesday.
According to Salineville Police Chief Andrew Straley, village resident Chelsea Stofen last was seen in Salineville on Tuesday between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. with an unknown male suspect.
The male subject is described as being between 5'11'' and 6'1'' tall and weighing 180-200 pounds. Straley noted that, based on his investigation, it appears Stofen met the unknown male through a social media website.
Stofen is 5'2'' tall with short dark brown hair that is spiked on the top and brown eyes. She was wearing blue jeans, a green sweater and black boots. She was also wearing glasses and carrying a silver purse.
Straley noted that Stofen has a disability which causes her to have a mental age younger than her actual age.
Straley said his department is working with local, state and federal law enforcement agencies, including the Columbiana County Sheriff's Department, Ohio State Highway Patrol, Missing and Exploited Children Agency, the FBI and the Bureau of Criminal Investigation.
