Benefit show at Scaffidi's today
STEUBENVILLE - Nashville-signed recording artist Rose Angelica will perform a benefit concert beginning at 6 p.m. today at Scaffidi's restaurant, 350 S. Hollywood Blvd.
The event will be a CD release party celebrating Angelica's release of "The Wish" and benefit for Rich and Barbara Wilinski's daughter Lynette Wilinski Gailey for medical treatments.
"Barb and Rich have given so much for so long to this community," said Angelica. "It's time we all step up and pay them back. Their daughter was denied insurance coverage, so I want to use my gift of music to help."
A portion of the proceeds will go toward CDs and DVDs of "The Wish" will be available for sale.

Ohio Patrol planning OVI checkpoint
STEUBENVILLE - The Ohio State Highway Patrol announced today that troopers will operate an OVI checkpoint to deter and intercept impaired drivers this week.
The county where the checkpoint will take place will be announced the day prior to the checkpoint, officials said, and the location will be announced the morning of the checkpoint.
Those planning to consume alcohol should designate a driver or make other travel arrangements, officials said.
Operational support for the sobriety checkpoint will be provided by local law enforcement agencies.
Amish buggy accident reported by patrol
SMITHFIELD - An accident involving a motorist and Amish buggy at about 5 p.m. Saturday on state Route 164 resulted in two men being transported to local hospitals, according to a report by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Daniel Shrock, 22, of 8460 county Road 53, Bergholz, riding in a horse-drawn buggy headed north was struck by a vehicle, also heading north, driven by George Davis, 1112 Kennedy St., Bergholz. The vehicle driven by Davis struck the buggy, forcing the buggy off the right side of the road, while the vehicle driven by Davis veered left and struck a guradrail and overturned, according to reports.
Shrock was transported to Ohio Valley Medical Center in Wheeling, while Davis was transported to Trinity Medical Center West.
Shrock was in stable condition early today, while Davis' condition was unknown.
