Weirton Elks events announced
The Weirton Elks Lodge 1801 will be holding their monthly pasta dinner, Sunday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. for members and guests.
The dinner includes salad, pasta, bread, butter, coffee or tea at $6 for adults and $3 for children age 10 and under. A ticket will be selected for a free dinner at next month's Pasta Sunday.
The lodge also will be selling hot soup, sandwiches, hot chocolate and snacks during the Weirton Christmas parade on Nov. 30. The food and beverages will be available starting at 4 p.m.
The Weirton Lodge will be closed Nov. 28 in observance of Thanksgiving Day.
Moving On hears Tom Graham
Tom Graham provided musical entertainment when members of Moving On, a group of widows and widowers, met Nov. 10 for their luncheon and meeting at Undo's in Weirton with Norma Boni, president, presiding.
Jack Davis gave the blessing and closing prayer, and Christine Brown provided a reading about American liberties and one for Veterans Day about soldiers.
November birthdays were acknowledged, with the honorees treated to a cupcake and "Happy Birthday" sung in their honor.
Fall items adorned the tables decorated to an anutum theme, courtesy of Margaret Chapman and Nancy Smurda.
The 50-50 drawing was condcuted by Lucretia "Toots" Ross and David Kramarich and was won by Carol Zagula. Undo gift certificates went as prizes and were won by Barbara Mayers and Delores Proakis. The Applebee's gift certificate was won by Davis. A group of scissors went to Jeannette Spear. Table prizes were won by Jean Baird, Richard Kimmel, Brown, Mary Jane Lindsay and Mayers. Dinners went to Janet Saner and Kimmel.
Mary Sue Hodovanic volunteered to call members about providing table prizes.
Reports were given by Chapman, treasurer, and Ross, secretarial.
The next meeting will be held Dec. 8 at Undo's in Weirton. There will be a Christmas card exchange. The cost is $12 for dinner and $10 for dues. Anyone interested in joining can contact Janet Saner at (740) 537-4487.
Line dancing program planned
A line dancing program is on the agenda for the Lupus Support Group outreach program.
It will be held Monday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Martin Luther King Jr. Center in Steubenville.
Thanksgiving dinner planned
The Weirton Ministerial Association is planning its annual community Thanksgiving dinner from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 28 at the Greater Weirton Senior Citizens Center.
The dinner is free to the public and will include turkey, ham, dressing, yams, green beans and a dessert. Games and activities also will be provided.
