Rivers Edge Garden Club meets
The hostesses for the October meeting of the Rivers Edge Garden Club in Toronto were Karen Thompson and Janet Saner, at whose home the meeting was held.
Ten members attended.
Mary Bilchak, president, presided at the meeting where Thompson read devotions entitled, "Autumn Fires" by Robert Lewis Stevenson.
Beth Cooper, secretary, and Betty Stewart, treasurer, gave reports.
Members were reminded to drop their items off for the Hutton House at Stewart's home the week of Nov. 17 or members also can bring their items to the next meeting.
The club elected to make a donation to Coats for Kids.
In committee reports, photographer Gail Saner shared pictures she had taken at the club picnic, and Stewart, beautification committee, gave a report on Newburg Landing. It was determined that the club will no longer plant geraniums on the hill side, as it can be dangerous when trying to water them. The club discussed flowers to plant as an alternative. Stewart will contact members to schedule the fall cleanup at Newburg Landing.
Stewart gave the program on deadheading perennial and annual flowers.
Saner and Thompson served refreshments. The November meeting will be held at Bilchak's home.
