STEUBENVILLE - Sasha Sims was arraigned Monday on a voluntary manslaughter charge and sent back to the Jefferson County jail.
The 29-year-old city woman is accused of stabbing Edward Dehart of Mingo Junction in the chest early Sunday morning during a dispute at her home at 1242 Wellesly Ave.
Dehart was transported to Trinity Medical Center West where he was pronounced dead.
Sims sat quietly in the Municipal Court Monday morning and told the judge she wanted to see her four children, "before I am sent to prison."
"Your family will have to make visitation arrangements for your children with the jail," responded Spahn.
Municipal Judge Daniel Spahn assigned Steven Stickles to represent Sims and scheduled a preliminary hearing for 10 a.m. on Nov. 5.
Spahn set her bond at $100,000, and Sims was immediately taken back to the Jefferson County jail.
Police Chief Bill McCafferty said the couple had a long history of domestic violence calls at the Wellesley Avenue residence.
"We have responded to the residence 14 times this year because of arguments between the couple," said McCafferty.
Dehart was arrested on June 13 on domestic violence charges.
According to the police report, Sims called 911 on June 13 and stated Dehart was punching her on her head and she wanted him to leave.
Sims later declined to file domestic violence charges, but Dehart was charged by City Police.
