DORSCH, Frank Charles, 88, of Weirton, passed away Saturday, October 26, 2013, at his home.
Born in Wheeling on February 24, 1925, he was a son of the late Frank W. and Rose Weiblinger Dorsch.
He was also preceded in death by an infant son, Eugene Dorsch, a brother, William Dorsch and two sisters, Madeline Koelher and Rosella McCoy.
Frank was a graduate of Triadelphia High School Class of 1942, a United States Navy Veteran of World War II with service on the USS Cowanesque and was a graduate of the West Virginia University School of Engineering. He was a professional engineer and worked for Seabright Construction, Weirton Steel and ultimately for JD&E Contractors and Engineers where he became the corporate president. He also served as a consulting engineer for the City of Weirton and for the Weirton Sanitary Board for over 40 years. He was a member of the Weirton Code Enforcement Board, Williams Country Club, where he was an avid golfer. At Williams he was club president and club champion, Sales Executive Club and proud of his leadership with the Upper Ohio Valley Building and Construction Trades Council. St. Joseph the Worker was his longtime home parish where he served as a member of the finance council and in later years, he and his wife, Norma, attended St. Paul Parish where his eldest son is pastor.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Norma Jean Grob Dorsch, three sons, Rev. Fr. Larry W. Dorsch of Weirton, Michael Dorsch (Deborah) of Morgantown and Joseph Dorsch (Pamela) of Cypress, Texas; five daughters, Carol Vuckovich (Michael) of Beavercreek, OH, Karen Sue Vogel (William) of Washington, DC, Mary Ellen Mack (Douglas) of Winston- Salem, NC, Sally Jo Scherling (Edward) of Pittsburgh, PA and Nancy Castle of Canal Fulton, OH; 23 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Margaret Sells of Lutherville, MD and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main St., Weirton. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, 140 Walnut St., Weirton with his son, Rev. Fr. Larry W. Dorsch as celebrant. Interment will be held at St. Paul Cemetery with military services provided by the American Legion Honor Squad.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to "The Day Family Mission Trip to Ecuador" or to St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, 140 Walnut St., Weirton, WV 26062 in his memory.
