OMAITS, Evelyn Chapman, 83, of Smithfield, OH, passed away Sunday, October 20, 2013, in the Gables Care Center in Hopedale, OH.
Evelyn was born on February 26, 1930, in Hillsboro, OH, daughter of the late Cary Benton Hopkins and Maude Wheelen Hopkins.
Evelyn was a homemaker and a very active member of the former Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Smithfield until it closed where she then became a member of St. Casimir's in Adena.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 31 years, Billie Chapman, who passed in 1980; Frank Rogers and Maurice Omaits. She was also preceded in death by her son, Billie B. Chapman who passed in 2013, three brothers and five sisters.
Surviving are her children, son, Michael Chapman of Smithfield; son, Joseph (Lynn) Chapman of Chapel Hill, N.C.; daughter, Catherine (Jeffrey) Timko of Deland, Fla.; daughter, Alanna (Hank) Mallery of Flag Staff, Ariz.; daughter-in- law, Sharon Chapman of Cleveland, OH; her brother, Robert W. Hopkins. She is also survived by nine grandchildren; Ali, Billie, Ryan, Patrick, Wesley, Jarrett, Katie, Kelsey and Levi and 12 great-grandchildren; Sydney, Jack, Taylor, Haden, Owen, Colby, Connor, Grace, Caleb, Isaac, Adir and Brielle; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation for Evelyn will be held on Thursday evening, October 24 from 5:30-7 p.m. at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Smithfield, OH.
The family will gather at St. Casimir Catholic Church in Adena on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until time of her Funeral Liturgy with Mass at 10 a.m. Msgr. John Kolesar will celebrate the Mass and burial will follow in Northern Cemetery in Smithfield, OH. Vigil service will be held Thursday evening at 6:45 p.m.
