HERRING, Hershal, Sr., 68, of Steubenville, OH, died on Thursday in Steubenville.
He was born on February 7, 1945, in Havanna, FL, to the late Raymond and Lucille Hines Herring.
Hershal was a graduate of Steubenville High School in 1964 and worked as a millwright for 38 years in Weirton Steel. A Baptist by faith, we was a 32nd Degree Mason and a past master of the Eastern Light 64. He was also a Shriner and honorably discharged from the United States Army.
Besides his parents, Hershal was preceded in death by one stepdaughter, Tracy M. Pleasant, two brothers, Raymond and Harry Herring and two sisters, Lula Mallory and Virginia Herring.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Berry Herring of Steubenville, a son, Hershal Lamar Herring, Jr. of Akron, Ohio, a daughter, Theresa Herring Johnson of Saginaw, Michigan. Three brothers, Henry (Alice), Michael and Nathan Herring all of Steubenville, two sisters Genevieve Murray and Delores Herring both of Steubenville. Two special sons, Henry Lee and Steven Herring of Steubenville, a special sister-in-law, Janice Alexander of Charlottesville, VA, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Arrangements are being handled by Vinson House of Mortuary in Steubenville. Calling hours Wednesday 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home with funeral services at 11 a.m. Thursday at Second Baptist Church, Rev. Dr. Calvin McLoyd, Jr. officiating.
