WEIRTON - Area residents will have a chance to sample some of what is available in the region on Tuesday with the annual Top of West Virginia Showcase/Taste of the Valley.
The event, set for 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Serbian-American Cultural Center, is organized by the Weirton Area Chamber of Commerce and the Top of West Virginia Convention and Visitors Bureau.
The Showcase is in its eighth year, and will include more than 50 area merchants, food vendors and other businesses displaying their products.
Admission is $5 per person, and the event is open to the public. A drawing for door prizes will be held, with items donated by participating businesses.
Included in the lineup this year will be a performance by the Weir High School cheerleaders.
In addition, a challenge has been made to the two Rotary clubs in Weirton. Whichever club - the Rotary Club of Weirton or the Rotary Club of Weirton Heights - brings the most members or friends to the event will receive $200.
