THOMPSON, John "Dee" 90, of Steubenville, died Wed-nesday, October 9, 2013, at Trinity West.
He was born June 21, 1923, in New Alexandria, the son of the late Wylie and Allie Cooper Thompson. John is also preceded in death by two brothers, Richard and Ralph Thompson also, one great-grandchild Anna Guterrez.
Surviving are his wife, Velma Danver Thompson whom he married November 24, 1953; three daughters: Sandra Dee Presley of Steubenville, Sharon (Randy) McGough of Worthington and Barbara (Donald) Hyde of Oklahoma; one stepson, Robert (Connie) Moore of Toronto; seven grandchildren: Rob Moore, Jeremy Presley, Stephanie Guterrez, Sean Moore, Kelly Moore, Traci Patrick and Shani Platt; three great-grandchildren: Gabriel Guterrez, Josie Moore and Sadie Zufall; also many nieces and nephews.
John was a retired truck driver, a Methodist by faith, a member of the PNA, and served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII.
Calling hours are Saturday at the Mosti Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, 4435 Sunset Blvd., from 11 a.m. until the time of services at 2 p.m., Fr. Jack McCoy will officiate and burial will be private at Union Cemetery.
