To the editor:
I had the privilege to follow the Jefferson County Bookmobile along some of its more rural stops at the end of September. I must say it was a real treat. Driving through the rural parts of Jefferson County this time of year is a blessing in itself, but getting to service the people of this county makes it even more enjoyable.
The drivers of the bookmobile (book-mobrarians), Lee Tate and Sara Malcolm have a job that provides more than books to the residents of our county.
They have a relationship with the people that use this wonderful service the county provides. They are true friends of Jefferson County and the people in it. Whether you are looking for a book on trains or quilts, they can find it for you. If they don't have it they will get it for you. And, if you are a regular they will be able to recognize something in the Bookmobile that will make your day.
They made many well received recommendations throughout the stops. One lady was pleased to find that the bookmobile offered DVD's. At another stop we were welcomed with baked goods from a regular patron. If you see the bookmobile, I encourage you to stop by and take a look. At the very least you will be greeted with a smile and a friendly face. You might even take home a good love story or adventure.
