CASELLA, Nicolina F. 82, of Weirton, passed away Monday, October 7, 2013, in the Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA.
Born December 1, 1930, in Sicily, Italy, she was the daughter of the late Salvatore and Catherina Guiffre Traviglia.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Carmelo G. Casella on September 19, 2005.
Nicolina had a love for sewing and, in her teen years, taught others how to sew. When she and her family moved to the United States, she shared her seamstress talents with her family and friends.
As a homemaker, she always enjoyed gardening and singing while she worked around her home. Her favorite past time was cooking baking and having her family join her around the dinner table. She was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, Sons of Italy Antonio Meucci Lodge and Four Seasons Seniors.
Nicolina is survived by her daughters, Rosaria Steiner and her husband, Dwayne of Weirton, Caterina Ramser and her husband, Stephen of Upper St. Clair, PA, Phyllis Casella of Weirton and Sonia Papas and her husband, Ted of Grove City, OH; grandchildren, Joseph Steiner, Carissa (Lew) Kovarik, Stephen (Adrienne) Ramser, Nicholas and Catherine Ramser and Anna and Matthew Papas and great-grand children, Evan and Aiden Kovarik.
Visitation will be held Friday 9-10 a.m. at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, WV. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will follow at 10:30 a.m. with the Reverend Father Anthony G. Thurston officiating. Entombment will be in St. Paul Cemetery, Weirton.
