Jefferson County flushing hydrants
WINTERSVILLE - The Jefferson County Water and Sewer District will be flushing hydrants Monday through Friday.
Customers may experience low water pressure and some discoloration of water. The water and sewer district advised residents not to do laundry while the hydrants in their area are being flushed.
The following is a list of the areas to have hydrants flushed:
Area "M": Fernwood Road, Snug Habor, Springdale, Talbott, Winters, Laurel Woods, Malone, Pioneer, Higler, Bennett, Maplewood, Woodview, Longvue, Morningside, Two Ridge Road, Reichart, Forest View, Douglas, Bantam Ridge Road, Vireo, Elm, Linmar, Beverly, Frostview, Olive, Stevens, Mildred, Bantam Ridge Court, Circle Drive, Cathy, Andrew, Alfred, May Lane, Eva Marie, Orlando Manor, Bell Street, Ward Drive, Rolling Acres, Murphy, Sunset Drive, Stuart Manor, Evergreen Terrace, Skyview and Hazelwood.
Legion to hold spaghetti dinner
PINEY FORK - Piney Fork American Legion Post 735 will hold its annual spaghetti dinner from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at the post home.
The cost is $6 for adults and $3.50 for children under age 10.
Carry-out will be available, as well as dining in the social hall.
County fairgrounds site of a steer show
SMITHFIELD - The Jefferson County Fair Board and sale committee will sponsor a Fall Spectacular Steer Show on Oct. 26. Weigh-in will be from 9 a.m. to noon, and the show starts at 1 p.m.
The show is open to all states, with a $25 entry fee for out of county and $14 for Jefferson County residents. Cattle may arrive on Oct. 25. There will be straw bedding only.
Food and drink will be available all day starting at 8 a.m.
PERI will meet Wednesday
WINTERSVILLE - Jefferson County Chapter 5 of the Public Employee Retirees will hold its monthly meeting at noon Wednesday at Zalenski's.
Guest speaker will be Judy Bratten, director of Historic Fort Steuben. All public employees and their spouses or guests are welcome.
