Runway ground broken

September 24, 2013
The Herald-Star
Crews from Pennsylvania-based Cast and Baker worked on a retention pond Monday at the Jefferson County Airpark. The work is included in the runway widening and extension project, which will add 500 feet to the runway’s length and 15 feet to its width. Airport officials expect the dirt work to be done sometime in October, after which they hope to get it paved before winter. Cast and Baker bid $747,975 for the dirt moving contract. -- Linda Harris
