Fundraiser for Chester boy set Sept. 29
CHESTER -A fundraiser for Tyler Simpson, a Chester boy who was injured in an accident last year, will be held from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 29 at the Chester Municipal Building.
The car cruise and silent auction is being sponsored by Chester City Councilman John "Woody" Woodruff and the Sons of the American Legion Post 121. The cruise-in will feature 30 trophies.
Items for the silent auction may be dropped off at Rock Springs Parts and Service, 600 Carolina Ave., or at 136 Carolina Ave. Checks may be made to: "Tyler Simpson Love Cruise," Northern Hancock Bank & Trust, 226 Washington St., Newell, WV 26050.
Simpson, 14, was injured Nov. 18, 2012, when he was struck by a pickup truck with a trailer while he was crossing Carolina Avenue.
Library board to meet Sept. 18
WELLSBURG - The Brooke County Public Library board will meet at 1 p.m. on Sept. 18 at the library.
