The Herald-Star
The Jefferson Society, leadership givers of the United Way of Jefferson County, hosted its annual Jazz in the Garden Thursday evening at the home of Derek and Lisa Ferguson of Wintersville as a way to say thank you to the leadership donors for their support of the United Way. The evening included the induction of three individuals into the Jefferson Society’s Hall of Fame, who were singled out for their outstanding contributions. Honorees included Sophie Schoolcraft, Mingo Junction social services director; Todd Piergallini of Piergallini Catering; and Suzanne Kresser, former director of the United Way. On hand for the presentations were, from left, Piergallini; Christine Hargrave, hall of fame coordinator and presenter; Schoolcraft; Dave France, United Way board president; Anita Jackson, Jefferson Society chair; Beth Rupert-Warren, executive director of the United Way; and Anthony Mougianis, 2013-14 campaign chair. In the 2013 campaign, the Jefferson Society raised $196,581.55 of the overall goal of $445,225.69. Jazz in the Garden included musical selections by Dr. Francis Sunseri and his musicians. - Janice R.
