TILTONSVILLE - Two ordinances, one banning temporary residential vehicles, were adopted during the August meeting of Tiltonsville Village Council.
That ordinance prohibits the parking and storage of fifth wheel trailers, mobile homes, recreational vehicles, motor homes, truck campers, park trailers, travel trailers and other temporary residential units in the village.
It was pointed out that council's intent is to be certain that only permanent residential dwellings will be placed on properties within the village with proper utility connections and sanitation.
Among the provisions are that no temporary residential unit, if owned by the owner of the property, can be parked or stored upon the owner's property unless actively used solely for recreational purposes by the owner or occupant of the premises outside the village.
Anyone found guilty of violating the ordinance will be fined not more than $150 for each offense. Each day's violations will constitute a separate offense.
The other ordinance council adopted regulates garbage and trash receptacles.
In other matters, Councilman Ty Lollini indicated residents are talking about reports of robberies and vandalism in town.
Police Chief Jerry Davis said there was only one break-in in Tiltonsville, and there was vandalism reported July 23 in the Yorkville, Tiltonsville and Rayland area, with the case solved in three days.
Davis said anyone can leave an anonymous tip with his department, but callers have to leave their telephone numbers if they want to receive a return call.
Lollini recommended a meeting of Yorkville, Tiltonsville and Rayland officials be held in the near future to discuss issues that have come up.
Officials also discussed instances where people have junk intheir yards, noting they should consider putting up a fence or some kind of covering.
An abandoned piece of property on Arn Avenue was discussed. One official said he heard someone wanted to buy it so plans are to find out more about it.
Council asked Solicitor Bryan Felmet to send a letter, asking about the status of a burned Ohio Street house, owned by a bank.
No action was taken on a proposed swimming pool ordinance, suggested by Greg DeFilippo, code administrator. Village Administrator Carl Sgalla, who is an electrician, suggested council look a little closer concerning the electrical and location wording.
The village has received its salt contract from the Ohio Department of Transportation. The contract is with Morton Salt at $36.45 a ton. Sgalla said this is a big savings from the previous two years.
Sgalla reported efforts are being made to determine the best solution to the north well problem, but it appears the options will be to drill a new well or to reline the existing well. He is working with the engineer, the Jefferson County engineer, Ohio Environmental Protection Agency and the contractor to determine the best solution.
Council's next regular meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 3.
