WORKMAN, Mary (Miller) Bitzer, 87, of Follansbee, WV, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 18, 2013, at Acuity Specialty Hospital, Steubenville, OH.
Mary was born on May 20, 1926 in Wheeling, WV. She was the daughter of the late Charles and Helen Miller.
Mary served in the Army of God through the Wellsburg Salvation Army. She worked as a chamber maid at the upscale Wheeling hotels. Mary will be remembered for her kindness and love.
In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her first husband, Homer D. Bitzer; second husband, Leroy Workman; a son, Homer Dale Bitzer Jr.; an infant daughter, Mary Bitzer; three brothers, Art, Charles and Jim Miller; and a sister, Betty Courts.
Mary is survived by her loving daughter, Penny Painter; two dear grandchildren, Mary Lou and Jack James Painter, all of Follansbee, WV; a cherished great-grandson, Christopher Collins; two caring brothers, Tom (Katie) Miller and Bob (Nancy) Miller of Wheeling, WV, and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2013, from 2 p.m. until time of funeral service at 3 p.m. at the James Funeral Home, 1245 Main St., Follansbee, WV (304-527-1717). Following the service, Mary will be cremated.
