Weirton Rotary learns of Rosie event

July 25, 2013
The Herald-Star
Pam Makricosta, vice president of the Weirton Area Museum and Cultural Center, updated members of the Rotary Club of Weirton on Wednesday about plans to honor women in the community who labored in area mills during World War II. The museum’s “Afternoon Tea with Rosie the Riveter” is set from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the museum located at 3149 Main St. The inaugural event, held in 2012, offered area residents a chance to learn more about the contributions and sacrifices the women made for the war effort. John Lilly will entertain the crowd, while Bob Kelley has supplied a special tea from France. — Linda Harris
