MONTGOMERY. William George Sr., age 78, of Toronto, OH, passed away Thursday, June 27, 2013, at the Carriage Inn of Steubenville, OH.
He was born June 14, 1935, in Steubenville, OH, the son of the late Okey and Anna Wells Montgomery.
Bill loved to play with his grandchildren and work on cars; was owner and operator of the family owned junkyard and retired from the State of Ohio road construction department.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ava Vievia Hartman Montgomery who passed away May 7, 2013, and whom he married February 18, 1956; grandson, Thomas Earl Montgomery; great-granddaughter, Patience Rose Neeley; brothers, Homer, Charles "Buck", Leonard "Pud" and Virgil Montgomery; sisters, Ruth Carson and Mabel Evans.
Bill is survived by his daughter, Debra Payne and her husband Robert of Toronto, OH; sons, William G. Montgomery, Jr. and his wife, Tracey, Michael Montgomery and his wife, Paula, Ronald Montgomery and his wife, Deanna and a foster son, Rick Black all of Toronto, OH; grandchildren, Kim, Katrina, Angie, Michael, Bobbi, Desi, Ronnie, Okey (Paul) and Alisa; great- grandchildren, Savanna, Cassidy, Peyton, Adam, Mariah, Nevaeh, Lily, Carman and Anne; brothers, Alfred Montgomery and wife, Carol of Toronto, OH and Wilford Montgomery of Texas; sisters, Anna Jean Kurtz, Darlene Nemeth, Mary Lou Seigman and Grace Carrico all of Alliance, OH, and Olive Nolan of Leavittsburg, OH
Family and friends will gather for visitation 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday, July 1 at the Clarke Funeral Home, 302 Main St., Toronto.
A celebration service of Bill's life will be held on Monday, July 1 at 8 p.m. at the funeral home with Bill's family officiating the service. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
