UNKEFER, Donald LaVern, age 60, of Toronto, OH, passed away Wednesday, June 5, 2013, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born March 14, 1953, in Salem, OH, the son of the late Edward LaVern Unkefer and Thelma Loretta (Swan) Unkefer.
Don's memberships include the North River Avenue Christian Church of Toronto; Dyer Country Club of Toronto; Toronto V.F.W. Post 6906; Toronto American Legion Post 86; Alliance Sport Parachute Club and the P.O.P.S. Parachutist over Phorty.
He also attended St. Francis Roman Catholic Church with his wife and was a 1971 graduate of Toronto High School.
He served his country in the Navy during the Vietnam War and served in the Ohio Army National Guard and had been employed by the Lattimore Trucking Company of Leetsdale, PA
Don's survivors are his wife, Iluminada "Ming" (Lumboy) Unkefer whom he married January 1, 1978; daughters, Christina Unkefer and fiance, Andy Graham of Richmond, OH and Eden Unkefer of Toronto, OH; son, Atlee Unkefer of Toronto, OH; grandchildren, Blake and Jacob Larkins, Wyatt Russell and Ryder Unkefer; brother, Thomas (Kathy) Unkefer of East Palistine, OH.
Visitation for Don will be held 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Saturday, June 8th at the Clarke Funeral Home, 302 Main St., Toronto.
A celebration service of Don's life will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, June 9th at the funeral home with Pastor Robert Hanze officiating. Interment will follow at the Toronto Union Cemetery.
There will be full military graveside honors by the Toronto American Legion Honor Guard.
