STEUBENVILLE - Corey J. Lyons Jr., 25, of Steubenville was indicted by the Jefferson County grand jury on Wednesday on two counts of felonious assault, one with a gun specification, and single counts of tampering with evidence and having a weapon as a convicted felon in connection with a May 22 shooting of Brandon Young, also known as Brandon Hubbard, 30, of Steubenville.

City Police reported Young and another man were on a porch at 1304 Park St. around 2 a.m. May 22 when Lyons fired shots from the porch at 1310 Park St. Young was hit with bullets three times, once each in the upper chest, thigh and wrist, police reported. He was flown by medical helicopter to a Pittsburgh hospital.

Police reported Lyons was arrested on the porch at 1310 Park St.

Police believe a large brawl earlier in the evening may have played a part in the shooting.

Lyons in 2008 was sentenced to slightly more than eight years in prison in U.S. District Court in Wheeling.

Lyons and a man from Weirton pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute more than 50 grams of cocaine.

Lyons was released from federal prison several months ago, according to authorities.
