BLOOMINGDALE - Friends, family and faculty gathered Thursday at the Jefferson County Joint Vocational School to learn of awards and scholarships bestowed to students during the school's annual awards banquet.

Dale Edwards, superintendent, acted as master of ceremonies for the event. He told graduating students that if they want to succeed they must follow through on their goals.

"If you want to get something done, stick with it," he told students, adding goals are achieved by remaining focused. "Day-to-day decisions will have to be made, but we should not permit them to get in the way of carrying out a mission. Time and energy are limited so know what you are working toward, stay motivated and keep your eye on the 'big picture.'"

CONGRATULATIONS — Dale Edwards, superintendent of the Jefferson County Joint Vocational School, congratulated students who had attained scholarships and other honors during the school’s academic banquet held Thursday.

Edwards also said students would face obstacles in the future, but that shouldn't prevent students from achieving their goals.

"Being passionate in achieving a lofty goal is helpful," continued Edwards. "However, it's knowledge and skills that are essential to accomplishing success. Searching for best practices of others can also support one's efforts, but not forgetting your own past experiences can help to strategize future plans."
