Woman charged with assault
WEIRTON - The Weirton woman who allegedly tried to hit two juveniles with her car Monday evening in the vicinity of Owings Street has been charged with two counts of malicious assault, reckless driving, disorderly conduct and public intoxication, Police Chief Bruce Marshall said.
The driver, identified as Theresa Hall, was released from the Northern Regional Jail in Moundsville Tuesday. Her address was not immediately available.
"Our guys responded to a disturbance call in the area of Owings Street," Marshall said. "As the situation unfolded we found the defendant had struck one of the juveniles and attempted to strike another."
The boy who was struck suffered only minor scrapes. Marshall said the investigation is ongoing.
Wintersville man admits to violation
STEUBENVILLE - Jason L. Garrison, 27, of 334 Bradley Ave., Wintersville, was sentenced Tuesday by Jefferson County Common Pleas Judge David Henderson to six months in the Eastern Ohio Correction Center after Garrison admitted to a probation violation.
Garrison pleaded guilty to grand theft and theft for stealing $37,500 in firearms and other items from a house on Efts Lane in January 2012. Garrison was allowed to enter drug court in August but the county's adult probation department filed for a probation revocation, stating Garrison again was abusing drugs and was not following the regulations of drug court.
Henderson said Garrison will be on probation for three years, during which time he must make restitution to the victim. Garrison faces up to 18 months in prison if he violates probation.
Owner of pitbulls cited after incident
FOLLANSBEE - The owner of two pitbull terriers involved in a fight with a collie on Oak Alley Sunday afternoon has been cited for violating a leash ordinance.
Lisa R. Koch, 23, of 765 Clifton St., Follansbee, received the citation from the Brooke County Sheriff's Department, which assisted Wellsburg Police in investigating the incident.
Wellsburg Police were called because the Follansbee Police officer on duty was returning from transporting two subjects to the Northern Regional Jail, according to police reports.
According to police reports, Koch was releasing her dogs into her yard when a man was walking with his collie along Oak Alley. None of the dogs were leashed, police said.
Police said Koch, the owner of the collie and another person each were bitten while attempting to separate the three dogs and were treated at the scene by the Brooke County Ambulance Service.
According to the reports, Wellsburg Police shot and killed the two pitbulls while the collie died as a result of the attack.
