Relay for Life flags, bows available
The Brooke-Hancock American Cancer Society Relay for Life Committee seeks everyone's help in promoting the upcoming event through the sale of flags, bows and T-shirts.
The sale is part of the committee's Paint the Northern Panhandle Purple campaign, through which the group is recruiting local governments, businesses and residents to decorate their meeting places, buildings and homes with purple flags and bows to raise awareness of area Relays for Life.
Set for June 1 and 2 at the Follansbee Middle School football field, the local event is one of many Relays for Life held to raise funds for services provided to cancer patients and research and education aimed at preventing cancer and finding a cure.
The group is selling flags for $10 each, bows for $5 each and T-shirts for the following prices: youth small to adult XL, $15; 2XL, $16; and 3XL, $17. To purchase them, call Dave Secrist, chairman, at (304) 919-3960; Tammy or Paul Hornick, co-chairs, at (304) 737-3748; or stop by Jacki's Florist and Crafts on state Route 2 in Wellsburg. It's not too late to enter a team in the event.
