Cleanup effort

April 20, 2013
The Herald-Star
More than 30 volunteers of all ages participated Beech Bottom’s annual Cleanup Day on April 6. The group collected 33 bags of garbage and debris, multiple tires, a swimming pool liner and other miscellaneous items and were fed breakfast and a pizza lunch during the event, which was sponsored by the village’s Neighborhood Watch program. The cleanup is one of several measures that earned the village a West Virginia Make It Shine Community Award in 2009, 2010 and 2011 and the honor of Make It Shine Grand Prize Winner, for which it received $500 from the West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection for future beautification efforts. -- Contributed
