WINTERSVILLE - A crew from Shelley & Sands will spend part of its summer completing work throughout the village.
According to Mayor Bob Gale at Thursday's council meeting, Shelley & Sands was awarded the village's 2013 paving contract.
"We will pave Tera Manor, Selma and Janet (drives) and complete additional work on Springdale Avenue over the summer months," he stated. "The cost of the total project is $80,030.40."
Council then approved magistrate court software for the police department.
"This software is necessary in order for us to tie things together for the state when it comes to identifications and outstanding possible warrants for people that have been pulled over or arrested," Gale explained.
The software, paid for out of the police fund, totaled $9,853.
Gale also mentioned work for Phase 3 of the wastewater treatment plant update is in the design stages.
"We recently approved a resolution authorizing a wastewater study required by the EPA," he noted. "We also approved an engineering fee to W.E. Quicksall and Associate for $350,000 to start the beginning steps of Phase 3."
Phase I of the project includes new screening, grit and grease removal; new grit classifier building; new influent and effluent flow monitoring; new aerobic digester tank; new scum pump station; replace aeration diffusers; new belt filter press; rehab clarifiers; geodesic dome clarifier covers; UV disinfection system; update electrical system; add two new blowers; raise flow EQ tank wall; and asphalt resurfacing.
Phase 2 of the project will focus on updating the lift stations with computer capability lines and remote monitoring system.
In other business, council:
Heard from village resident Rebecca Lash concerning noise and dust from a commercial property on Kreggel Road. Gale said village officials will look into it to have the issue resolved.
Announced one meeting will be held during the month of July. The meeting will be at 7 p.m. on July 18.
The next council meeting will be held at 7 p.m. on May 2.
