MARINACCI, Nicholas P., 94, of Weirton, WV, passed away Monday, April 15, 2013, at the Weirton Medical Center.
He was born March 30, 1919, in Cross Creek Township, PA, the son of the late Joseph and Matilda Frendisco Marinacci.
He was also preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth DeJovan Marinacci (2004); sisters, Emma Perazzoli, Ann Yazevac; brothers, August, Tony, John, and Joseph Marinacci.
Nick was an active member of St. Joseph the Worker Church. Nick retired from Conrail railroad as a master mechanic. In 2004, he was honored with the lifetime membership in the Mingo Junction Knights of Columbus No.4361.
He served in the U.S. Army 729 railroad detachment, and his group was one of the first in to Normandy during WWII. He also served in Northern France and Central Europe and received the Jubilee of Liberty medal for fighting in Normandy.
Nick was an avid golfer and scored four holes-in- one during his golfing career.
Surviving are his daughters, Donna Sebring of Greenwod, IN, Vicki Saggio (Sam) of Steubenville, OH; son, Nick Marinacci (Jeanne) of Weirton, WV; grandchildren, Lisa, Christina, Nicole, and Korissa; great-grandsons, Troy and Dylan.
Visitation will be at the Steel & Wolfe Funeral Home, Inc., 380 Penco Road, Weirton, WV on Wednesday April 17, 2013 2-4 and 6-8.
Funeral Mass with Liturgy will be Thursday April 18, 2013 at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph the Worker Church with Reverend Manuel Gelido presiding. Burial will follow at St. Paul Cemetery.
Military funeral honors will be provided by American Legion Post No. 10 honor guard, and the West Virginia honor guard.
