WUYAK, Mildred, 84, of Weirton, WV, peacefully passed away Monday April 1, 2013, at D&D Quality Care where she resided for the past five years.
Mildred was born on June 11, 1928, in Canton, OH. She was the daughter of the late Steve and Anna Vignovich.
Mildred graduated from Weir High School in 1946 and worked as a dental assistant until she married George Wuyak, her husband of 52 years. A long time employee of Stone & Thomas in Weirton, Mildred was an avid reader who supported education and the arts; loved to write poems to her loved ones; and had great affection for her two cats. Her most cherished moments were those spent with her daughters and grandchildren.
Mildred is survived by her three daughters, Cathy Priest and her husband Tom, of Madison, OH, Karen Lombardi and her husband Ray, and Michelle Wuyak, all of Follansbee, WV; grandchildren, Jade Priest-Maoz, and her husband, Mike, of Woodbridge, CT, Jake Priest and his wife, Suzanne, of Washington, PA, and Lindsey Lombardi Thomas and her husband, Brian, of Houston, TX; three great- grand daughters, and two great- grandson; one sister, Ann Kraina; and one sister- in-law, Dorothy Mergen, both of Weirton, WV; and nine loved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband George (2-9-2003), sisters, Bertha Vezmar and Helen Paar, and a beloved nephew.
As Mildred wished, there will be no visitation prior to cremation.
Memorial services will be held at the Steel & Wolfe Funeral Home, Inc., 3721 Main Street, Weirton, WV, on Sunday April 14, 2013, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Tom Bullard presiding.
