CADIZ - The Harrison Coal Reclamation Historical Park's annual membership meeting is planned at 2 p.m. on Saturday at the Puskarich Public Library.

Also, the Historic Construction Equipment Association, Ohio Valley Chapter, will meet at 11 a.m. that day. Both meetings are to be held at the coal museum and are open to the public.

Dale Davis is in charge of the calendar project that was sponsored by Consolidated Coal Co. It features the Hanna Coal early years with the Pioneer and Trail Blazer shovels. The calendars sell for $10, with $2 required for postage and handling. Nearly 400 calendars have been sold to date, according to officials.

The 2012 calendars feature the Gem of Egypt and are still available while they last at $12. There are a few 2011 calendars left with the Mountaineer at $10 each. Those interested in buying those years' calendars can send a check or money order made out to the HCRHP, in care of Dale Davis, at 456 Park Ave., Cadiz, OH 43907. For information, call Don Richards at (740) 937-2178.

Discussion was held about the upcoming dinner/auction to be held May 11 at the Hopedale Social Hall. Tickets are on sale now through coal reclamation members or by calling Claren Blackburn at (740) 937-2460 or Marilyn Monzula at (740) 942-3895. Tickets are $15 per person for the all-you-can-eat buffet, speaker and auction.

The speaker will be Kerry George from Adena, who grew up in a coal mining family. He has written a book entitled "Black Damp Century."

The auctioneer will be Thomas Wallace of Wallace Auction Service.

Some auction items include a framed color photo of the Silver Spade donated by Carl Streley and three color photos of each of Hanna's giant earth movers - the Mountaineer, Silver Spade and Gem of Egypt. There also will be Hanna Coal News magazines, a watch fob, coal figurines, coal festival mugs featuring the A&B shovels passing in the pit, mining decals and more.
