TORONTO - The last musical or play performance ever in the city school district's high school auditorium will have them dancing in the aisles, as the high school theater company presents the musical "Footloose."
The extravaganza is set for 7:30 p.m. April 12-13 and 2 p.m. April 14, and the school will be honoring the final curtain call of the auditorium, which has been in use since 1925, according to Principal Maureen Taggart.
"On April 13 we are bringing back the cast from the (high school's) 2007 production of 'Footloose,' as we honor them and everyone who has ever done a show on the Toronto High School stage at the end of the production," said Taggart. "We'll conclude with the singing of the Toronto High School alma mater."

Tickets for the final show will feature a picture of the THS auditorium on the back with the words "Final Curtain Call 1925-2013," according to Rich Coburn, musical director.
"Some of these student-actors have been with me since I began here six years ago (as musical director)," said Coburn, adding the cast began rehearsals in January.
Although this will be the final musical in the auditorium, the Toronto High School Band will host another band concert on April 25, Coburn said.
The musical's plot revolves around a student who moves to a small town, only to find dancing is prohibited. The movie version starred Kevin Bacon and led to several high profile hits, including the title track "Footloose" and "Let's Hear it for the Boy."
There will be 44 cast members from grades seventh through 12th in the performance, according to Coburn. This will be the last musical for the auditorium because of the new district building being built to house grades sixth through 12th next school year. The current high school will be demolished to make way for a parking lot for the Toronto High School Stadium.
Coburn said the cast will include four seniors, including Andy Miller as Ren McCormack; Cari Horne as Ariel Moore; Kohl Lemal as Willard Hewitt; and Taylor Lynn as Eleanor Dunbar.
Others featured in the musical include Maria Dunlope as Ethel McCormack; Derick Lawrence as the Rev. Shaw Moore; Krystal Valuska as Vi Moore; Grace Barach as Lulu Warnicker; Hannah Leasure as Rusty; Emily Rodesh as Urleen; Malaysia Harrison as Wendy Jo; Joe Jordan as Chuck Cranston; Logan Pethtel as Lyle; Devin Alvis as Travis; Drew Bigler as a cop, Bickle and Cowboy Bob; Carlie Elson as Betty Blast; Rick Hlivko as Principal Harry Clark; Noah Smith as Jeter and Warnicker; Avery Watkins as Garvin; and Ed Weidger as Coach Roger Dunbar.
The ensemble includes Kaylee Peckens, Jessica Savage, Jasmine Savage, Cierra Firm, Emma Brousseau, Desi Meadows, Brianna Risler, Kaylee Putman, Nina Shook, Brittany Holbrook, Ashlee Danko, Jamie Mason, Amelia Kuntz, Jenna Leasure, Caitlin Groser, Jillian Barach, Jenna Newbold, Brooklyn Allison, Maisie Swartz, Alexis Peach, Kaylee Burch, Leslie Phillips and Megan Anderson.
Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for students and seniors and will be available at the door. For information, visit the website at www.thsmusical.wix.com/footloose.
