The satellite office of the Jefferson County Veterans Service Commission will be open from 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday at the Toronto American Legion, 415 Market St., Toronto, to assist veterans, dependents of veterans, and/or veterans' widows with Veterans Administration pensions, compensations, burials, schooling, medical assistance and other veterans' benefits.

'Farm to School'
The Jefferson County Farm Bureau Promotion and Education March dinner meeting will be held at Eat N Park at 6 p.m. Thursday.
Sarah Cross, Ohio State University Extension agent, will attend to speak on the "Farm to School" program.
The Ag Educator Award recipient will be discussed as well as the Ag Baby shower and the development of the CupCake Wars contest to be held at the Jefferson County Fair in August.
Members are asked to wear green and bring pennies for the collection to buy Farm Bureau- approved books to be donated to schools.

Meals at church
Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church located at 2105 Sunset Blvd., Steubenville, is holding weekly soup and sandwich meals during Lent on Wednesday from 6 p.m. to 6:45 p.m.

Fundraiser to aid
A Longaberger Bingo to benefit the Harrison County Relay for Life will be held April 7 at the Hopedale Social Hall.
Doors will open at noon, and games start at 2 p.m.
Cost for 20 games is $20 for pre-sales or $25 at the door. There will be a love offering concession stand.

Spaghetti dinner at chapel Saturday
Wintersville Community Chapel located at 27 Ward Drive, Wintersville, will be having an all-you-can-eat fundraiser spaghetti dinner on Saturday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
The donation of $7 includes all-you-can-eat spaghetti, a trip to the salad bar, bread, a beverage and homemade desserts. A single serving is $6, and children 10 and under eat for $3. To add meatballs to a dinner is an additional 50 cents.
There also is a choice of meatball hoagies for $3.50 or make it a meal for $6. Takeout orders are available by calling (740) 264-7873.
The money raised goes to the missionary society, according to a church spokesperson. The WCCMS supports missions throughout the world, across the United States and locally, including God's Outreach, a food pantry in Jefferson County.
The Richmond Community Historical Society is sponsoring a St. Patrick's holiday dance featuring the Sands of Time on Saturday at the Glenn Mills Senior Community Center located at 7576 state Route 152, Richmond.
It will be held from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Admission is $5 per person or $10 for a couple. Food, pop and water will be available for purchase along with historical society items. There also will be a 50-50 drawing.
All proceeds benefit the Crew House Museum on Main Street, Richmond.

Tack auction set
for March 23
A tack auction will be held March 23 at 4-H Camp Aura on Ross Road, New Cumberland.
The doors will open at noon, and the auction begins at 1 p.m.
The Knight Riderz and Sundowners 4-H Saddle clubs are sponsoring the event, and proceeds will benefit the horse show facility at Camp Aura.
Name brand tack, grooming supplies, barn supplies, riding gear, horse care, wormers, saddle pads and saddles will be available. Steve Armstrong of Salem will supply all new tack. Used tack consignments also will be taken.
Gift cards, items and services donated by local sponsors also will be auctioned during the sale.

for talent show
Acts are still being accepted for the fifth-annual Kinsley S. Ard Memorial Talent Show, sponsored by the Weir High School Class of 2014 Parent Group and set for 7 p.m. Friday at the high school's Milton J. Weinberg Theater, Weirton.
Acts will be accepted in the following age categories: elementary, grades kindergarten through fourth; middle, grades fifth through eighth; and high school, grades ninth through 12. Only the first 20 entries in each category will be accepted.
Those participating may perform individually, as part of a duo or as groups of three or more. Any area child may participate; entrants need not be enrolled in Hancock County Schools. Entry fees are $15 for a solo act, $20 for a duo and $25 for a group act. Children can only participate in one act, and all acts must be 2 minutes in length.
There will be a mandatory dress rehearsal Thursday at the theater.

Cash prizes will be awarded in each age category. First-place winners will receive $100; second, $75; and third, $50.

The event also will include a Chinese auction, with items including a R.E. Saxon necklace, Quick Fit gift card, Versace men's sunglasses and a Sheetz gift card. Refreshments will be sold.
A 50/50 drawing will benefit a scholarship in Kinsley Ard's memory.
Kinsley was a member of Weir High's Class of 2012. The talent show began in 2009, and March 15 would have been her 19th birthday.
