FLEDER, Frank E. of Las Vegas, formerly of Mingo Junction, entered into eternal rest on February 27, 2013, at Summerlin Hospital Medical Center, Las Vegas.
Frank served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War and worked in telecommunications with Ohio Bell Telephone and AT&T. During his career he received many commendations and the Theodore Vail Award for bravery. The Vail Medal was created in 1920 in memory of Theodore N. Vail (President of the American Telephone and Telegraph Company from 1907 to 1919) to perpetuate his ideals of service to the public. It was awarded to individuals for noteworthy acts of loyalty and devotion to duty.
Frank is survived by his wife, Marianne P. Fleder of Las Vegas; son, Frank "Sam" Fleder (April) of Steubenville, daughter Laurine Tibaldi (Nick) and grandson Nico of Las Vegas, sister, Sr. Marcia Fleder OP of Columbus and brother, Charles Fleder, as well as nieces, nephews, and host of great friends. Frank was preceded in death by his parents; his stepbrothers, Stanley and Rev. Peter Grabaskas; and infant granddaughter Nicole Lynn Fleder.
Frank was a person of great care and concern for all. He was exceptional in the kindness and decency he extended to every person he met. He will be remembered by his gentle, generous nature, and the deep love and devotion he had for his wife and family.
Visitation will be on Thursday from 4-8 p.m at the Mosti Funeral Home, Sunsets Chapel, 4435 Sunset Blvd., Steubenville. A Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated on Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Agnes Catholic Church, Fr. James Dunfee, celebrant. He will be laid to rest in Holy Spirit Mausoleum at Mount Calvary Cemetery. There will be a vigil service 7:45 pm Thursday.
