Richard Eloi

ELOI, Richard C., 78, of Weirton, WV, passed away Thursday, February 14, 2013, at the Weirton Geriatric Center.

He was born September 18, 1934 in Weirton, WV. He was the son of the late Leander and Lidella Haun Eloi. He was also preceded in death by brothers, Leonard and Nelson Eloi.

Dick was a member of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, American Legion Post No. 10, VFW Post No. 2716, and a lifetime member of Weirton Heights VFD, where he joined the Weirton Heights junior firefighters at age 11. He also worked with his father at Eloi Heating & Cooling, Weirton Steel, and he also drove school bus. He retired with over 30 years with the City of Weirton Fire Department. He retired as Fire Chief from the City of Weirton, having served as chief from 1985-91.

Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Margaret "Peggy" Chociej Eloi; daughters, Nancy Ritchie (John) and Patty Huff (Jeff) all of Weirton, WV, Donna Eloi of New Bern, NC; sons, Richard Eloi (Laura) and Jeff Eloi (Debbie) all of Weirton, WV; eight grand children, three great grand children; sisters, Shirley Huber of Wintersville, OH, Bertha Wilson of Logan, WV, and Virginia Miller (Jim) of Columbus, OH.

Visitation will be at the Steel & Wolfe Funeral Home, Inc., 380 Penco Road, Weirton, WV on Sunday, February 17, 2013 1-3 and 6-8 p.m. where the funeral and committal service will be held Monday February 18, 2013 at 11 a.m. with Reverend Larry Dorsch presiding. Burial will be at Chestnut Ridge Cemetery, Florence, PA.
