Pinewood Derby

The Two Chiefs district of the Cub Scouts kicked off their annual Pinewood Derby at the Fort Steuben Mall’s Center Court Friday with adult volunteers and Boy Scouts testing their wood vehicles and the track. Carl Tribett of Wellsburg lined up his Pinewood Derby car for the first heat Friday night. More than 40 Boy Scouts and adult volunteers participated at the Friday night races. The main event is set for today from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. at the mall with approximately 200 Cub Scouts from New Manchester, Weirton, Follansbee, Bethany and Wellsburg in West Virginia, and Freeport, Empire, Irondale, Bloomingdale, Richmond, Wintersville, Steubenville, Toronto and Martins Ferry in Ohio, participating in the day long races.
