Coffee and a Movie - it's new

"Coffee, Doughnuts & A Movie" is something new in the programming lineup through the Public Library of Steubenville and Jefferson County, according to Jennifer Cesta, the library's public relations coordinator.

"It was initiated by Karen Merritt, who is the branch manager for Tiltonsville and Brilliant," Cesta explained.

"She wanted to offer a new ongoing program for adults at the Tiltonsville branch. Since the library shows a movie each month to children, Karen felt this may work well with the adults. It did. Approximately eight to 10 people attend a month."

Cesta said the library has a movie license so Merritt selects newly released movies.

"Since the program is so popular at the Tiltonsville branch, she recently started to offer it at the Brilliant branch," Cesta continued. "It has now expanded to the main library where library assistant Donna Straney will select movies but is offering it as 'Coffee & A Movie.''

The main library will offer this the third Friday of every month at 10 a.m, beginning Jan. 18. The Tiltonsville branch normally offers it the third Tuesday of every month, but this month it will be shown on Jan. 22. The Brilliant branch normally offers it the third Friday at 10 a.m., but this month it will be on Jan. 25, according to Cesta.

Cleaning and buffing service offered

The Public Library of Steubenville and Jefferson County is offering a new service - disc cleaning.

The January newsletter encourages people to bring in their DVDs and CDs from home to have them "cleaned and buffed" for $1.

The new service is available at the main library and at the Schiappa, Toronto and Tiltonsville branches.
