WEIRTON - The Tri-State Marine Corps Club Auxiliary recently held its December monthly meeting at the Serbian American Cultural Center on Colliers Way with President Joan Spano presiding over the business session.
Chaplain Mary Ann Smith led devotions, read Luke 2:8-14 and offered the invocation, including special prayers for several individuals.
Shirley Brecht read "Thank You Lord," and Marcy Spano led in opening ceremonies.
Reports were given by Carol Lyons, secretary, and Maxine Ragan, treasurer.
Lyons read a thank-you letter from the Barboursville Veterans Home for the 98 Christmas cards, 16 birthday cards and calendars sent to residents by Joan Spano. The group also received thank-you cards from Henry Portcarrero, Valley Haven Residents, Joan and Tom Powers, Joe Simms and Boatsie's Boxes.
December birthday wishes were extended.
Brecht gave a report on the group's secret pals project and revealed the secret pals for 2013.
The auxiliary sent 1,181 Christmas cards to active duty military members and veterans in local nursing homes.
JoAnn Johns won the 50/50 drawing, donating it back to the treasury.
Following the meeting, the auxiliary joined the Marines Club for its Christmas party.
The next meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Jan. 8 at the Serbian American Cultural Center.
