KENEFICK, Michael Patrick "Pretzel" Sr., 76, of Steubenville, died Thursday, December 27, 2012, at Valley Hospice.
Michael was born September 8, 1936 in Steubenville, and was a lifelong resident of Steubenville. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Thomas Kenefick Sr. and AnnaBelle (Castner) Kenefick.
He graduated from Catholic Central High School, Steubenville in 1955. He served in the Army for three years in Korea after the conflict. He retired from Weirton Steel after 39 years.
Mike is preceded in death by his first wife, Marilyn Jean Smith, December 21, 2006. He was also preceded in death by his second wife and best friend, Betty Forcone- Kenefick, who passed January 8, 2012.
Mike was a member of the Steubenville Moose Lodge 619 for over 50 years. He served as lodge president at the Moose. He also belonged to fraternal organizations the VFW Post 2716 and the American Legion. At various times he golfed, fished, bowled and played bingo.
Mike is survived by his children Rena (Jerry) Peffer of Alliance, Ohio, Bridgette (David) Douglas of Canton, Ohio, Michael (Sara) Kenefick Jr. of Hilliard, Ohio, Tricia (Francis "Frank") Marino of Claypool, Indiana. His grandchildren are Timothy Ramser, Joanna Osz-Miller, Nathan (Danielle) Osz, Michael Osz, Kristofer and Sydney Kenefick, Francis "Frankie," Vincent and Jessica Marino. One great- grandchild, Jade Miller.
Mike and Betty are survived by the children raised in their marriage; John (Marilyn) Truini of Reidsville, NC, Cindy (Mark) Zende of Wintersville, Toni Truini-Putnam of Steubenville; grandchildren are Jacob, Tyler and Leigha Truini , Phillip Jay "PJ" Putnam .
Mike is survived by his sister, Catherine Ann 'Sis' (Charles) Shute of Follansbee; brother, James Andrew 'Jimmy' (Robin) Kenefick of Weirton, WV; brothers-in-law Guy Forcone of Steubenville and Richard Slee of Dublin.
Mike was preceded in death by his brother, John Thomas "Jackie" (Patty) Kenefick Jr; and sister, Mary Alice "Babe" (Richard) Bryan.
Calling hours are Monday 10 a.m .until the time of services at noon at the Mosti Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, Steubenville, Msgr. Gerald Calovini will officiate.
